Academic services to the society is one of the main mission of higher education institutions, which institutions who provide academic services to community society and the country should focus on practical for the in various ways regarding on their aptitude in the institutions of higher education and expertise. Academic services may be launched for free or may be charged accordingly in order to serve both government and private sectors. Independent agency, there is a variety of academic service model, such as the use of resources of the Institute, provide a training program, academic reference, or consultation. The Institute also benefits in various fields such as Knowledge and experience of instructors will lead to curriculum development research and networking operation.   The cultural study of Chiang Rai, Lecturer Peravit Chaimara Leader for cultural studies Rajamangala University of Technology, Chiang Rai campus, has adopted his cultural knowledge to teach housewives and the elderly in a village nearby university to make traditional paper flag called “Tung” which will enable them to learn and earn extra income.

Lecturer Paravit Chaimara said “Project was planned and operated by the cultural center to preserve arts and culture by expertise to teach the community. At present, knowledge of making Tung was fade from society, even some of the elders do not know how to make it. VinWut sutana, the staff of the cultural center, guest speaker and arrange a workshop on Tung making at community nearby university”,

BanPongdang, Tumbon saikhao,  Amphoe Pan, Chiang Rai Province was selected as a first community to launch this project with corporative of  Lecturers from Faculty of Business administration and Liberal arts. To achieve sustainable development, Lecturers from the accounting department, responsible for teaching cost accounting and profit. Lecturers from marketing department responsible for teaching about the package, channel of distribution and determine market demand. Lecturers from the management department responsible for organizational management.

 The community can make Tung as their part-time, though it takes 5-6 hours to finish each Tung but can generate 300- 400 percent profit margin. Villagers gathered and started making Tung since April, it can generate income for member and enhance the relationship between group member.

Since the first knowledge transfer project was accomplished successfully, Rajamagkala University of Technology Lanna, Chiang Rai campus was requested by the older group in Muang Kam, Amphoe Pan, Chiangrai Province to continue this preserving culture workshop.  Moreover, cultural study center, Chiang Rai are welcome to transfer cultural knowledge to those who interested.
