Brailler fighter Braille typing training game learning society

 “We look at  the work of the senior project  which working with vision impairment.  We recognized that in schools there were a few braille machines and costly which had to order from abroad. We want to use the knowledge to develop software that enable everyone access to braille and wants to learn along the way”. NatthaPhong ThiChuea said about the inspiration for the creation of Braille typing training game.

    For those who are visually impaired face with difficulty to live. Braille is essential for them to learn.  Thailand also lacks of understanding the needs of the disabled people. Especially for vision impairment person, braille typewriter costs 30,000-35,000 baht. Therefore, students can use the machine only in the class from school only.

   For more than a year that Natthaphong ThiChuea and Chaturong Wongjai Students of  Computer Information Systems Department,  Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology, Lampang Campus  have been studying information and development of basic braille writing games for visually impaired people together with teachers and students at Lampang Blind School to develop software for braille writing and used as a communication channel for the visually impaired. Consequently, students can study braille and learn by themselves.

   Chaturong Wongjai said Braille language is a point raised in a small cell and has 6 positions, which led to a switch to a code of letters and alphabets. We created a software called  “braille fighter training” in the preliminary print braille audio formats. Using the same principle of Brailler writer, but braille typewriter was made as a game to inspired students and user to learn as "Learn to Play". User can access to “Brailler fighter” from computer which they can learn Braille printing in Thailand English and number. Program was set to have different level of difficulties from easy, moderate and hard. .

   NatthaPhong ThiChuea said “we have structured the game similar to braille typing machine as possible and also identify the suitable color for bleared students which would be a contrasting color such as yellow, black and white then we started to create games and Interface design. It was very difficult to decode braille letter and to match Keystrokes on braille printer with keystrokes on the keyboard and  sounds used in the game  so everything need to be interlinked. After the braille fighter created, it was tested by students and teachers of the blind school in Lampang and updated until “braille fighter” able to combine the words.

   Braille fighter is learning materials that can solve problem for inadequate  equipment  for children with impaired vision.     Braille fighter  was the project  of student from Information System Department, Rajamangala University of Technology, Lampang Campus, lecturer Khanuengnut Sanin as a project advisor. Moreover this project cooperated with various students   under  the project of “Kla Mai Sangsan Chumchon” 12th year.
