Thai Desserts … Thai Identity

Lifestyles of Thai people in the modern day have been changed in many ways including governance, education, food, clothing, and particularly food customs and cultures. In Thailand, food cultures have been increasingly influenced by foreign countries. As a result, Thai food, especially Thai desserts, have been declining in their popularity.

          “Thai desserts” are one of the identities defining being “Thai”. They represent the characteristics of Thai people for being gentle, delicate, and meticulous. They also demonstrate Thai local wisdom by gathering ingredients in their local areas to create a variety of Thai cuisine.

          The Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, Phitsanulok is aware of the importance of customs and cultures. To raise awareness, the knowledge transfer activity of Thai desserts was held for the students and the public, on March 6, 2019 at the courtyard of Office of Academic Resources and Information technology. The activity aimed to give the participants knowledge relating to Thai desserts and to raise their desire to participate in the conservation and restoration of Thai wisdom. This could conserve and further local wisdom of making Thai desserts.
